DMCA copyright policy

Effective Date: April 29, 2026

Homeschool OS LLC ("Homeschool OS," "we," "us," or "our") respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users of homeschoolos.io and our application (the "Service") to do the same. We respond to clear notices of alleged copyright infringement that comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 ("DMCA"), 17 U.S.C. § 512.

This page explains how to submit a DMCA takedown notice if you believe content stored or transmitted through the Service infringes your copyright, how to submit a counter-notice if your content was removed by mistake, and our policy on repeat infringers.

1. Designated copyright agent

Send all DMCA notices and counter-notices to our designated agent:

DMCA Agent — Homeschool OS LLC Attn: Joshua Sanders, Member 8735 Dunwoody Place, Ste N Atlanta, GA 30350 USA Email: support@homeschoolos.io

Please use email if at all possible — we monitor it actively and will respond fastest there. Mail is fine for formal service but will be slower to process.

2. Filing a takedown notice

To be effective under the DMCA, your notice must be a written communication that includes substantially all of the following (per 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)):

1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on behalf of the owner. 2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or, if multiple works at a single online site are covered by a single notification, a representative list of those works. 3. Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or to be the subject of infringing activity and that is to be removed or access to which is to be disabled, with information reasonably sufficient to permit us to locate the material — for example, a URL inside the Service or a description of where the material appears. 4. Information reasonably sufficient to permit us to contact you, including your address, telephone number, and email address. 5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law. 6. A statement that the information in the notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.

Misrepresentations in a DMCA notice may subject you to liability for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees, under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).

3. What happens after we receive a notice

Upon receipt of a notice that substantially complies with the requirements above, we will:

  • Promptly remove or disable access to the material identified in the notice.
  • Take reasonable steps to notify the user who posted the material that it has been removed or disabled.
  • Provide that user with a copy of the takedown notice (with your contact information included) so that they may submit a counter-notice if appropriate.

4. Filing a counter-notice

If your content was removed and you believe the removal was the result of a mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice. To be effective under the DMCA, your counter-notice must include substantially the following (per 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3)):

1. Your physical or electronic signature. 2. Identification of the material that has been removed or to which access has been disabled and the location at which the material appeared before it was removed or access disabled. 3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification. 4. Your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the U.S. Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located, or, if your address is outside the United States, for any judicial district in which Homeschool OS LLC may be found, and that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the original notice or from an agent of that person.

After we receive a valid counter-notice, we will forward it to the original complaining party. Unless the complaining party files an action seeking a court order against you within 10 to 14 business days of our receipt of the counter-notice, we may restore the removed material.

5. Repeat infringer policy

We maintain a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are repeat infringers of copyright. We may also terminate accounts in cases of a single instance of egregious infringement at our sole discretion.

6. Curriculum and evidence considerations

Homeschool OS is a homeschool operating system. Parents and Students upload curriculum materials and capture evidence of student work for personal educational use. We provide tools that store, parse, and organize this material on a per-family basis; we do not publish it. If you are a curriculum publisher and believe a family's private use of your material exceeds the bounds of fair use or your license, please contact us before filing a takedown notice — in many cases we can resolve the issue more efficiently through a direct conversation about appropriate use.

7. Updates to this policy

We may revise this DMCA policy from time to time. The "Effective Date" above will reflect the latest revision. Continued use of the Service after a revision constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

8. Not legal advice

The information on this page is provided for the convenience of users. It is not legal advice. If you are unsure whether your situation involves copyright infringement or whether the procedures described here apply to you, please consult an attorney.
